About
Experience matters when the questions get harder.
Jim Wagner has spent his career running P&L organizations, building leadership teams, and developing the people under him into leaders in their own right. That experience, gained across decades of operating roles, is what he now brings to clients navigating their own transitions.
Background
Three decades of building, hiring, and starting over.
Jim is currently a senior operating executive at EH Media, where he leads a portfolio of brands and the teams behind them, setting strategy, owning P&L performance, and developing the next layer of leadership within the organization.
Earlier in his career, he held P&L leadership roles at larger organizations, running global divisions, building teams from the ground up, and mentoring the executives who worked for him into their own leadership roles. Developing people has been as central to that work as hitting the numbers.
He founded Horizon Line Advisory to do for other leaders what he has had to do for himself more than once: get honest about where things actually stand, then build a specific plan instead of waiting for clarity to arrive on its own.
Philosophy
Advice is everywhere. Good judgment is not.Founding Philosophy
My job isn't to tell you what to decide. It's to help you see your situation clearly enough, and test your options honestly enough, that you can decide with real confidence. That means direct input, not just reflective listening, and it means drawing on what has actually worked, and what hasn't, across decades of running teams and P&Ls myself.
Begin
Start with a conversation, not a pitch.
Every engagement begins with an unhurried conversation to understand where you are and whether this is the right fit, for both of us.
